Pet Sematary | 1989 | 103 min | Mary Lambert
Plot - Behind a young family’s home in Maine lies a pet cemetery where generations of kids dealt with loss and grief. Beyond that plot, buried deep within the woods, lies another cemetery, a profane forsaken land with the power to bring the dead back to life. Sort of.
Bad date - The horror genre has been built upon the concept that what you love the most can and will be taken away from you usually by force, in violent and tragic ways. This movie is a powerful reminder of that. Its storyline dwells in an extremely sad place, full of despair, anguish and doubt. From that place it conveys all the horrors of being alive and knowing that one day that too will end, maybe in a very painful manner. So, no, it will not make such a great date night.
